2025 Made On The Mountain Fest - "Holy Confections" Dessert Competition
“HOLY CONFECTIONS” Dessert Competition – Judged by Local Pastors
Event Details:
Join us on Saturday, May 3rd, at the Albertville Museum (101 W. Main Street) for the sweetest showdown of the year! Bakers of all skill levels are invited to showcase their talents in this delicious competition.
Rules & Guidelines:
- Who can compete?
The competition is open to amateurs, culinary arts students, professional cook teams, and church groups. The entry fee is $25 per participant. - How many entries can you submit?
Contestants are allowed to submit only one dessert. If you’re representing an organization, you may enter multiple desserts, but each must be submitted under a “head cook” and require a separate $25 entry fee. - What should you make?
All desserts must be made from scratch—no store-bought items allowed! We want to see your culinary creations at their finest. - Sanitary preparation:
Please ensure all baked goods are prepared in a clean and sanitary manner. - Submission requirements:
All desserts must be fully baked and ready for presentation when turned in. If you’re submitting cupcakes or individual servings, please provide at least 10 pieces per entry. - Presentation matters:
Show off your creativity! The judges will be scoring your dessert presentation, so be sure to use your own dishes and decorations. Your presentation counts! After the competition, you can pick up your serving dishes at the Chamber of Commerce office (after 4 PM). - Leftovers:
Any leftover desserts that are not judged will be given to volunteers and become the property of the contest organizers. - Keep it cool (or not):
Refrigeration will not be provided. Be mindful that your dessert will sit at room temperature for up to an hour before being judged, so plan accordingly. - Submission details:
Please bring your entry with an index card that includes your name, phone number, and the name of your dessert. Desserts should be delivered between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM on the Hwy 75 side door of the museum.
Judging will begin at 2:30 PM, and the winner will be announced at 5:00 PM at the stage by the Train Depot.
Scoring Breakdown:
- Total Score: 100 possible points
- Presentation (30 points): Impress the judges with your creativity and style!
- Taste (40 points): It may look good, but does it taste even better? Balance is key—think sweetness, tartness, and texture.
- Execution (30 points): The details matter! Judges will assess how well your dessert is made. A picture-perfect cake is great, but if it’s dry, that’ll affect your score.
Judging Panel:
The competition will be judged by local pastors, adding a fun and unique touch to the event.
Prize:
The contestant with the highest score will win $100, a blue ribbon, and, of course, the honor of being crowned the best dessert made on the mountain.
